Travelling to Zhangjiajie wasn't easy. We did not hire a guide before hand. And communication was a problem. It was very hard to find someone who spoke english. We were lucky however to find a nice tujia girl who could barely understand english to be our guide. With her minimal english and my limited mandarin, we survived. Zhangjiajie certainly is very beautiful. The mountains were worth all the difficulties that we faced through out the journey. We were stranded at Wuhan airport on the way to Zhangjiajie due to bad weather and our flight out of zhangjiajie was delayed.

tokyo - our final stop
we spent 2 nights in tokyo. not enough to cover even a quarter of this huge city. however, we did get some interesting people watching here. we saw a sumo wrestler look alike in his full traditional garb - kimono with a complete hair do - at the shinagawa station. he was so cute... we also saw a young man with "flying hair" and interesting shades in a subway. we swear that he looked exactly like san gokku of the dragon ball (we could not take away our eyes of him...)
we had so much fun in japan. we got to see what we intended to see.....

takayama - hida no sato
hida no sato or hida folk village is sort of a museum consisting preserved farmhouses and traditional buildings. the most prominent features of the buildings are their tatched and steep roofs. to us, hida no sato alone was worth the trip to takayama.

takayama - sakura lagi
we could not get enough of sakura..... the sakuras were at their best when we arrived in takayama. they were extremely beautiful. we were a bit lucky.... but not lucky enough as our plan to go to shiroyama park did not materialise. we did not have enough energy to hike. shiroyama park is famous for its beautiful sakura and good view of the japan alps. anyway... what we saw of sakura on the way to shiroyama park did not disappoint us....

takayama
takayama is a town located in the mountains. our trip to takayama took more than three hours by train via nagoya from kyoto. the view from the train was picturesque which made the 3 hours short. coincidently there was a puppet festival that day. saw some floats near the takayama jinya (historical government buildings). the town was pretty crowded. we did not linger long.

kyoto - path of philosophy
this philosophy path is a popular place for sakura viewing. by the time of our visit, the sakura season has ended in kyoto. however, we were still in time to see the 100 petal cherry. this type of sakura blooms later than the 5 petal (which we saw in kanazawa). we also managed to spot another type, 20 petal cherry, somewhere inside the compound of the national museum of kyoto. the 100 petal cherry looks so lucious and delicious... we call it sakura debab...rasa macam nak makan...
